WHO WE NEED
We need yogis and hikers for a photo + video shoot for REI.
We’re looking for people who enjoy both yoga and hiking, and would be comfortable holding simple yoga poses on hiking trails. Must be 18+ and live in Washington state to apply.
You don’t need to be an expert hiker or yogi to apply! The most important thing is that you can speak to why these activities bring you joy.
LOCATION: You must currently live in Washington State to apply. This is a COVID19 consideration and we sadly cannot make exceptions.
GENDER: This project is advertising a “women’s” clothing line, so we need people who would be comfortable modeling in femme-leaning styles, such as a sports bra, yoga leggings, and hiking boots (wardrobe can be modified as needed for your religious/cultural beliefs). People of all genders are welcome to apply if wearing these styles authentically resonates with their gender identity.
ROLES: We’re making a dedicated effort to cast people not typically represented in outdoor recreation. For this shoot, we’re interested in casting:
BIPOC people (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color)
Plus-size people
Non-binary, genderqueer, gender-fluid, or other gender non-conforming people who would be comfortable modeling in the styles listed above.
Trans women
Muslim, Hindu, or other people from underrepresented religious or cultural groups. We’re especially interested in people who regularly wear items that reflect their religious or cultural identity (hijabs, headscarves, veils, bindis, etc). The wardrobe can be modified to honor your cultural/religious beliefs.
If you don’t fit one of these roles, you are still welcome to apply, but please note these are our priorities for this project. We also encourage you to sign up for general consideration.
You don’t need any professional modeling experience to apply. You should feel comfortable on camera and be good at taking direction.

PROJECT INFORMATION
ADVERTISER: REI
TYPE: Commercial photo + video shoot.
UNION STATUS: Non-Union
SHOOT LOCATION: Vantage, Washington. Hiking trails in the Frenchman’s Coulee area of the Columbia River Gorge.
We are only casting people who currently reside in Washington state. No exceptions. Due to the status of COVID19, REI’s current policy is not to hire talent who would need to travel from out-of-state. Thank you for understanding our commitment to the safety of all cast and crew. Oregon residents, we look forward to working with you on future REI shoots!
SHOOT DATES: Wed 3/10 or Thu 3/11. If hired, you’d work one day, to be determined by the client.
You may also be needed for an additional day to complete a video interview, date TBD.
Please do not apply if you have immovable schedule conflicts on the dates listed. You should be flexible enough to clear an entire day with just a few days’ notice. Please do not request work off or clear your schedule unless asked to do so.
PAY IF HIRED:
$1000/day for one day of work (stills and b-roll video)
Additional $400 if you’re needed for a video interview (additional half-day of work)
Lodging and mileage reimbursement available if needed (WA residents only).
Pay includes your hours worked and the usage of your image by the advertiser.
If you are represented by a talent agent, an additional 20% commission is available on all listed rates. you must disclose your agency on your application if applicable.
USAGE: Full buyout. All media in perpetuity.
HIRING REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18+, reside in Washington state, and be legally eligible to work in the US.
COVID19 CONSIDERATIONS: Please only apply if you would feel safe working during COVID19. It is your choice whether to apply for this project based on your individual risk factors. If you are not comfortable working during this time, your consideration for future projects will not be affected.
The casting process will be 100% remote. There will be no in-person auditions or callbacks for this project. Please note all bookings are contingent upon a negative COVID test result.
If you are selected for this project, we will share a comprehensive list of on-set COVID19 protocols that you can review before accepting the gig. All CDC and Washington State Covid-19 protocol will be followed.
Note that as models, you will sometimes be asked to remove your mask, for active filming and makeup application.
This will be a group photoshoot (4 people). We are making an effort to cast in COVID19 pods. If you are cast with members outside your COVID19 pod, all models will be required to test negative for COVID19 (at no cost to you) before the shoot.
CASTING PROCESS

You will be asked to upload photos and answer some questions about your yoga + hiking experience. Please gather the following photos in advance (cell phone shots are fine).
Recent color photos of your face (1) and full body (1). Professional headshots are not required. A full body shot in yoga or hiking clothes is preferred if available.
(5+) Photos of yourself doing yoga and/or hiking. These should be existing photos from your life.
(2+) Additional photos of you: modeling photos, casual snapshots, your city/street style.
Photo(s) of your COVID19 pod, if they are available/interested in the shoot.
Please upload as many photos as possible! The more photos, the better your chances of being hired!
SIZES: Please take a look at the REI Size Chart below and list your size in your application. If your size isn’t listed here, please list your typical clothing sizes.
ROLES: Please note the roles listed on the application are not meant to encompass all identities, but rather the specific roles we are looking for for this project. If you fit more than one role, please chose the one that is most central to your identity.
DEADLINE TO APPLY: 11:59pm Wed 2/17. Late submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please apply ASAP as first submissions take priority.
NEXT STEPS: If you are selected for further consideration, we will reach out to you with next steps. You will most likely be asked to record a short video telling us more about yourself. Please note that if you are not selected, you will not receive a notice.
NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT: By applying for this project, you agree not to mention your involvement in the project, nor disclose to outside parties any details regarding the advertiser, product, or shoot that may be shared during the casting process. Violation of the NDA may result in termination and/or legal action.
